"Episode 6 - Streaking"
Pearl Islands Friday, June 29th, 2018
~Previously, on OCW Survivor: Kalinda Kriegsdottir was voted off in the last episode, with Detective Jack Puffer taking her place. The curse of Kalinda seemed to be taking over, as storms rocked the Pearl Islands. This didn't stop the Bueno Vista tribe from winning their second Tribal Immunity Challenge in a row, easily taking down a rowing challenge from a disconnected Vivienda tribe. With the storms growing worse, Bueno Vista headed to their home away from home, a getaway villa, staying warm and dry while the Vivienda tribe again faced Tribal Council. In a surprising development, the tribe came together to vote out one of the stronger players in Ed Houston, making him the 5th person voted out.~
VIVIENDA TRIBE
After Tribal Council
_______________
~The Vivienda tribe is down to five now, as they cower under their makeshift shelter from the still pouring rain. The Uber Man shivers, looking around at the group nervously.~
The Uber Man: You know... We could always get closer together... Use body warmth to... You know...
~There doesn't appear to be any takers, so The Uber Man slumps back over, trying to endure the cold. Detective Puffer is also wet and cold. He reaches into his pants and pulls out the remaining Alvarez photographs.~
Detective Jack Puffer: Might as well make good use of these...
~He lays them on the ground and rolls around until they cover his body for...what we guess is warmth. He curls up underneath a tree with full branches to stay as dry as possible while using the photos as his 'blanket'. Annie hasn't moved; if she even noticed the photos, she's too drenched and freezing to care.~
BUENO VISTA TRIBE
Party House
_______________
~Unlike the Vivienda tribe, the Bueno Vista tribe has lived in luxury for the night at the villa they won in the last tribal immunity challenge. Everyone looks cleaner and more refreshed as they're eating breakfast the next day, enjoying every minute left of their 'vacation' before the next challenge. Chad Vargas walks past Matt Meyhu nonchalantly he keeps eyes on all of his tribemates. Once he's out of the frame he darts up the stairs of the villa and begins rummaging through shit.~
Chad Vargas: everyone thinks there's an idol on exile island... Shit there's probably a few over there. But I bet they stashed one in here somewhere.
~Vargas continues to shuffle through shit looking for an immunity idol that may or may not be there. Downstairs, we see Zybala doing his own version of 'searching' through the house. He comes walking out of the bathroom with a dozen rolls of toilet paper. He looks at his teammates staring at him.~
Zybala: Oh, don't you freaking judge me. You're as tired of wiping your asses with leaves as much as I am. Besides, I'm sharing with you guys.
~Zybala sets down the rolls and then runs towards the pool and dives in. He resurfaces and begins a nice, lazy swim. It's definitely a much more relaxed atmosphere.~
VIVIENDA TRIBE
Drying Out
_______________
~The rain has stopped...IT'S A NEW DAY. Puffer wakes up with a photo of Annie covering his face. He peels it off to reveal a smile. He sits up, caked in dried mud. He looks around while outstretching his arms and yawning.~
Detective Jack Puffer: I don't know about you guys, but I felt like I've been resting for nearly two days!
~Puffer stands and looks out over the horizon.~
Detective Jack Puffer: I detect that today could be an interesting day. I also detect that if Jack Puffer returns to exile he may lose his mind.
~Puffer heads toward the ocean to wash off the mud.~
TRIBAL IMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Breaking The Tile, Breaking The Tile
_______________
~With a quick cut, we see the sun rising higher in the sky, showing that it's time for the Tribal Immunity Challenge. We're back at the challenge area, where two large sets have been created. Pryde is standing in front of them, watching as the two tribes make their way in.~
Pryde: Bueno Vista getting their first look at the new Vivienda tribe. Ed Houston voted out at the last Tribal Council.
~Some shocked looks appear on Bueno Vista faces at the fact that one of the most competitive members of Vivienda is gone. The two tribes line up in front of Pryde, waiting for the next challenge.~
Pryde: So, Bueno Vista, how'd you enjoy the rental house?
~The Bueno Vista tribe gives some cheers, having enjoyed their time in 'paradise'. Zybala appears to still have a roll of toilet paper with him that he brought to the challenge.~
Pryde: Glad you enjoyed it. It's still in one piece, right?
~There's a little less cheering at this, as a few wrestlers look around nervously.~
Pryde: ... I'll just take that as a yes. Any damage must have happened AFTER you guys left, right?
Chad Vargas: Whatever you say, Pryde...
Curt Canon: What if... maybe... someone just happened to play a little too much in the pool... and there's a little bit more hair than normal...
~Pryde looks over at Checkers, who is doing his best to be innocent-looking.~
Pryde: Do YOU want to pay the damages?
Curt Canon: ...No?
Pryde: So it must have been some OTHER animal, right?
Pryde: Okay then, glad that's settled. Let's move on. Let's look at what you've got in front of you today.
Pryde: As you can see behind me, we have a line of boxes set up. On top of each of these boxes is a tile. This row is for Vivienda, this row is for Bueno Vista. Your job will be to break the tiles with underhand throws of balls.
~Some giggles from the audience, but Pryde, resigned, just ignores them.~
Pryde: Anyway, this will be a test of your ball-tossing accuracy.
~More laughs.~
Pryde: *sigh* The tile has to completely break to count. Cracks aren't enough. Two tribe members will go at a time, and we'll see who can reach the goal first. Bueno Vista, you have one extra member. Who's going to be sitting out?
~No one steps forward from the Bueno Vista tribe, as apparently everyone wants to compete.~
Pryde: I need a decision, Bueno Vista, or else we can't continue here...
~Suddenly, there's a shout, and Vargas is now in front of the tribe. He's angrily looking back, trying to figure out who shoved him forward. The camera didn't catch it (or was carefully edited).~
Pryde: Thanks, Chad, you can take a seat.
~Vargas is cursing furiously, ready for a fight, but eventually his tribe manages to calm him down. Vargas then walks over to Pryde, glaring at him.~
Pryde: ... They've got some beer over there for you while you wait.
~Vargas still looks pissed off, but at least there's beer, so he walks away to sit down. Pryde looks relieved that things didn't break down. He turns to the remaining tribe members.~
Pryde: So for the rest of you, want to know what else you're playing for besides immunity? Well, we've got a little map here with important information on it. It's got the location of several fruit and vegetable gardens that have been set up on the island. You win this map, you can head for any of these locations and collect all the supplies you need. Sound good? Get yourselves ordered and let's get this going!
~The first people on the platform are Julliet Brooks (Bueno Vista) and Zane Zamota (Vivienda). The signal is given, and Brooks and Zamota begin tossing, trying to hit their targets. Brooks isn't getting enough altitude, as she's hitting on the side of the first box. Zamota, though, is accurate, quickly breaking two tiles with perfect accuracy.~
Pryde: Vivienda takes the early lead!
~Next up is Matt Meyhu (Bueno Vista) and The Uber Man (Vivienda). Meyhu starts landing accurate hits, taking out the first tile with ease. The Uber Man is throwing his shots high in the air, trying for altitude to hit, but the only shot that hits a tile only cracks it. Meyhu takes down one more tile to tie things up.~
Pryde: We've got a contest! It's all tied up!
The Uber Man: Fake news.
~The third pairing is Harold Jones (Bueno Vista) and Detective Jack Puffer (Vivienda). Jones tries his best, landing a few shots to the next tile and cracking it, but it doesn't give way. Puffer, meanwhile, shows off his apparent detective-ball-throwing skills, nailing two more tiles and getting Vivienda close to the end.~
Pryde: Vivienda closing in on their first win!
Curt Canon: The anticipation is killing me!
~Canon (Bueno Vista) gets up there with The Incredible One (Vivienda). Checkers is cheering him on. Canon looks focused, as he stares intently at the tiles. While The Incredible One is tossing, trying to find the range, Canon starts launching, and manages to break two tiles in rapid fashion!~
Pryde: Canon comes through, and we're all tied up again!
Harold Jones: Damn! Nice job Curt!
The Incredible One: Good job, Curt.
~The final two members get up: Mike Zybala (Bueno Vista) vs. Annie Alvarez (Vivienda). Unfortunately, at this point the only tiles left are at the furthest boxes. Neither Zybala nor Alvarez can finish the challenge, unable to land a hit. Neither really comes close.~
Pryde: Neither tribe has completed the challenge, so we need two more to go at it! Tribes, send up your combatants!
Matt Meyhu: Me vs. you, puff daddy.
Detective Jack Puffer: Let's do this, brutus.
Pryde: Looks like the consensus is Detective Jack Puffer vs. Matt Meyhu. Let's get up there and break the final tiles!
Harold Jones: I can't watch.
~Jones hides his eyes along with Checkers.~
~Puffer and Meyhu line up and begin to throw, trying to hit the farthest targets. Puffer hits first, breaking the second-to-last tile with a great shot.~
Pryde: One left for Vivienda!
~Meyhu, not letting this get to him, keeps throwing, finding the angle that will work. He lands his own hit, shattering the second-to-last tile into lots of pieces.~
Pryde: Meyhu ties it up again!! It's all down to one final tile!!
Harold Jones: DAH!
~Jones and Checkers hide their entire heads. Curt drops next to them, but he can't stop watching. Puffer launches one final shot that appears to hit the final tile, but it only has some fractures, it doesn't give way. Meyhu's final shot, though, hits dead center. After a second or two delay, where everyone is holding their breath, the tile finally gives way, sending the ball inside the box. Bueno Vista lets out a huge cheer. Vivienda curses the skies.~
Pryde: BUENO VISTA WINS!!! Huge comeback multiple times for Bueno Vista, as they stay undefeated at challenges!!
Harold Jones: HOLY CRAP!
Detective Jack Puffer: Damn. Good game, Meyhu.
~Pryde waits for the two tribes to settle back down, before continuing.~
Pryde: Chad, you can rejoin your team. How are you feeling now after watching that performance?
Chad Vargas: Man. Its tough sitting out. Shit was intense. Canon and Meyhu y'all are fuckin clutch! Y'all are the OPPOSITE of WEAK ASS TRIBEMATES! I'm proud of you both and for the rest of my tribe! Good team win lady and gents!
~Clearly the victory (and the beer) have cheered Vargas up.~
Pryde: Alright, Bueno Vista, you've won immunity, so you'll be avoiding Tribal Council once again. Also, though, you have a choice to make. You're sending one person from Vivienda to Exile Island. This person will NOT be at Tribal Council, so you'll essentially be saving them. Give me a name, who's going to Exile?
~After some discussion, it's clear that Vivienda is split. But one person comes over and gives Pryde a name.~
Pryde: Going to Exile Island.... Annie Alvarez!
~Annie looks a little surprised, but she moves off nonetheless, joining Pryde.~
Pryde: Bueno Vista, here's your map to the best fruit & vegetable gardens on the island. There's also a notation for some good hunting sites. The rest of you, head back to your camp, and we'll come get you tonight for Tribal Council. See you later!
~The tribes move off, with Bueno Vista celebrating their dominance, while Vivienda is grumbling among themselves.~
EXILE ISLAND
Another Search
_______________
~The boat pulls up to the shore, where Annie Alvarez slowly steps out. Pryde is still standing in the boat, looking up at the skies as if wondering if the storms are going to return.~
Pryde: Well, Annie, you're just here for a few days. I'm sure you'll be okay. We'll come pick you up after Tribal Council. Enjoy the search!
~Annie just glares at Pryde, not saying anything, so Pryde signals for them to pull away. It could be the fact that a picture can be seen sticking out of Pryde's pocket. The boat disappears in the distance, with Annie finally turning around to look at her new environment.~
Annie Alvarez: Dammit.
~Annie walks forward, already focusing on her objective, as the camera fades out.~
EXILE ISLAND
Another Search
_______________
~The Vivienda tribe arrives back at their campsite, and a few tree limbs are broken to get the fire burning again. The Incredible One throws another piece of timber on the fire, and then looks out over the ocean.~
The Incredible One: Think Annie's doing good?
Zane Zamota: She's a tough one, she'll be fine.
Detective Jack Puffer: Better her than Puffer...
Zane Zamota: What was that, Jack?
Detective Jack Puffer: Nothing. The wind. The waves. Those annoying insects. You know, I'm going to go look at some pict-, I mean, find some food.
~The detective leaves the area, as The Incredible One and Zamota exchange a knowing look. The Uber Man, meanwhile, walks up with a pile of seaweed.~
The Uber Man: Who's hungry?
~We fade out, seeing a few more shows of the local nightlife as we prepare for tribal council.~
TRIBAL COUNCIL
Vivienda Tribe
_______________
~Once again, the Vivienda tribe is making the trek to Tribal Council. This time, only four torches are lit as they make their way down the steps to the tribal area. Pryde is waiting, and the fire looks as strong as ever.~
Pryde: Everyone take a seat. Keep your torches safe. So how are we feeling tonight?
~Nobody says anything. Most look completely depressed at being back here once again. Puffer, in particular, looks a little out of it.~
Pryde: It's been three straight visits to the Tribal Council area, and I can tell none of you are happy about that. So let's get through this as painlessly as we can.
~Again, no one says much. Clearly, that's been a theme of this episode.~
Pryde: TIO, this was easily the closest your tribe has come to winning a Tribal Immunity Challenge, only to have it yanked away at the last minute. How has the morale of the tribe been back at camp since the loss?
The Incredible One: I feel like I let my tribe down, if I had won we would've had the challenge. I apologize to everyone here for not stepping up. My head wasn't in the game.
~The Uber Man is nodding, agreeing with TIO, while Puffer and Zamota are motionless.~
The Incredible One: Big props to Jack Puffer though for stepping up in the finale there. It could've gone either way. I think morale has been down; it sucks going to tribal council three times in a row but one thing about going to tribal so often is you get to truly play the game, you're always on your toes and if you fall on the right side of the votes - you not only play the game but dictate it. I'm hoping the success of the votes continue to go in my favor.
Pryde: Well, for your sake, I hope that they do, TIO. Zane, you've consistently put up strong efforts in every tribal immunity challenge, and gave your tribe a great start this time, but the losing streak still continued. Do you feel like the tribe as a whole is making progress, or are you getting frustrated at how things are going?
Zane Zamota: You’re only as strong as your weakest link, and that’s not me.
Pryde: It doesn't seem that way, Zane, but then I don't think Ed Houston would have thought of himself as the weakest link, ether. Anything can happen in this game. Detective, how's it feel to be here at Tribal Council without a visit to Exile Island?
Detective Jack Puffer: But I don't want to go back to Exile!!!
Pryde: No, Det-, Jack, I'm not saying you have to go...
Detective Jack Puffer: I don't feel so good... please, I don't wanna go... I don't wanna go... I'm sorry!
~The Incredible One, The Uber Man, and Zane Zamota all circle Detective Jack Puffer, reassuring him. Uber Man looks furiously at Pryde, who just raises his arms.~
Pryde: What'd I say?
~A clump of dirt flies at Pryde, who ducks the attack.~
Pryde: You know what? Fine! I've got better things to do tonight anyway. Let's just get to the votes! Remember, you can write down any tribe member's name except your own.
~Each wrestler gets up and heads separately to the voting area, signing the piece of paper and stuffing it into the urn. The Uber Man turns to the camera, giving his vote a worthy salute before putting it away. We return to Pryde, who waits for The Uber Man to sit down.~
Pryde: I'll go tally the votes.
~Pryde gets the urn and comes back with it, positioning it in front of the four tribe members.~
Pryde: Once the votes are read, the decision is final. Whoever is eliminated will be brought forward to have their torch extinguished. As always, if one of you has the immunity idol, now would be the time to play it.
~The group looks around, but nobody stands up. Pryde barely waits, anxious now to get out of there. He starts reading the votes.~
~TIO nods, as if expecting it. He braces himself for what's to come.~
~The Uber Man looks at Pryde strangely, wondering why his heroic name was in there.~
Pryde: That's three votes, Uber. I'm going to need your torch.
~The Uber Man stands up, taking a moment to pose in front of his tribemates. He then walks up to Pryde with the torch held high.~
The Uber Man: I've got this.
~The Uber Man drives the torch into the ground, twisting it back and forth to try and put it out. Unfortunately, he chose to try to put it out into the bonfire, sending sparks and ashes flying everywhere. The wrestlers and Pryde dodge the burning embers, as The Uber Man decides to just leave his torch in the fire. He walks off triumphantly.~
Pryde: That's... one way of doing it. The rest of you go get some rest. Annie will be returning to you in the morning. You're running out of troops. Hope you're ready to do something about it. Good night.
~The three wrestlers left make their way out of the council area. The Incredible One, Zamota, and Puffer all look mildly defeated, and yet at least a little more relaxed that things went the way they hoped. We fade out.~
- The Vivienda tribe have suffered blow after blow. Can they find a way to somehow stop the bleeding and finally take down the powerful Bueno Vista tribe?
- While the Bueno Vista tribe have continued to win, tensions have continued to grow beneath the surface. Will Chad Vargas find out who pushed him into sitting out the last challenge? Can Matt Meyhu continue to hold the tribe together? Will Curt Canon finally find out what Checkers has been saying behind his back?
- Can Annie Alvarez find the idol that so many have sought? And will the abuse of Exile Island do more harm than good?
- And what will happen at the next challenge? A merge has to be on the horizon. But will it be next week? Stay tuned...
