The OCW Arena is packed.
It’s sold out.
Truckloads of food items are secured and ready to be delivered to nearby charities.
Fans are arm in arm singing folk songs about unity and kindness.
We cut to OCW Play-by-Play man and, apparently, dead body disappearer, Smith. He wipes a tear from his eye.
Smith: It’s a beautiful sight, fans. I have never seen so many people so united under one roof in my life. I don’t know who Rico Dominguez is but I can say, without a doubt, that he fights for a cause beyond our understanding.
Some of the less fortunate people in Key West make their way down the aisle carrying a torch. They reach the ring and in a ceremonial act they light a giant ‘R’ in the ring. The fans clap and begin to peacefully chant ‘Rico! Rico! Rico!’
Smith: Amazing moment here as the giant ‘R’ symbolizing the man himself, Rico Dominguez, has been lit up. The fans are growing increasingly unified as these chants for Rico Dominguez are loud but, surprisingly, harmonious.
“Hall of Fame” by The Script begins to play. The lights turn toward the entrance way as Rico Dominguez steps out. He’s dressed sharp, but not ridiculously expensive sharp. Common man sharp. He nods and places his hand over his heart, moved by the ovation.
Smith: And there he is! Look at how humble he is! All this hoopla and he almost looks embarrassed. I have to say that I am very, very impressed with what I’ve seen so far.
Dominguez stares at the giant ‘R’ that’s lit up in the ring. He exhales, fighting back the humble emotion. He strides forward. He takes time to give every person in the aisle an autograph. He takes selfies with the fans who ask. The whole entrance takes quite awhile.
Smith: Great song choice, by the way. I know he’s yet to wrestle a match but I know what a Hall of Famer looks like and dare I say Rico Dominguez is a future OCW Hall of Famer.
Rico finally reaches the ring. Fans are arm in arm singing along to his theme. He slowly makes his way up the steps and wipes his shoes on the apron before stepping through the ropes. The fans go wild. “RICO” chants shake the arena. A close up of Rico shows emotion all over his face. And a smile that indicates humble gratitude.
Smith: If I get a little choked up you’ll have to excuse me. This is quite the moment. This looks like the man capable of breaking OCW’s curse.
Rico steps up toward a podium with the ‘R’ burning behind him. He clears his throat.
Smith: Oh my gosh, he’s going to speak!
The arena goes silent. Everyone standing, smiling, eager to hear Rico’s words.
The chants for Rico Dominguez continue to reverberate throughout the OCW Arena. The ‘R’ behind him burns as a symbol for the competitive fire that burns within Rico. He takes a step back. The fans quiet down, all deeply invested in what’s going to happen next.
Smith: Rico remaining extremely composed considering twenty thousand people are watching his every move. I’ve never seen a wrestler more composed. I truly believe we are witnessing greatness at this very moment.
Carefully, Rico reaches into his coat pocket. The fans look on with heightened intrigue. Some theorize they might be witnessing the reincarnation of a deity. Rico pulls out a white dove and releases it! The dove flaps its wings. Fans look up, mouths agape. Tears start to run from their eyes.
Smith: The dove! A symbol of peace and love. We all know Rico is working toward his goal of achieving World Peace. I think he’s unified all of pro wrestling right here in this very…OH MY GOD
The dove is taken out of the sky by a large, black bird. Fans shriek! Rico backs away, eyes wide and shaken by fear. As he backs up, a menacing figure rises behind him.
Smith: Somebody is in the ring!! We need help out here! We need to preserve our dear Rico!
Rico spins around and stares right at a giant man wearing a PURGE MASK. The massive figure dives in with a huge headbutt, slamming his purge mask into Rico’s face, busting his nose open. The fans scream. The purge masked figure hoists Rico onto his shoulders before dropping him with a GTS!!! Rico is laid out.
Smith: Help!! Security!! We must protect Rico at all costs! This is a great man who is in peril!
The masked figure grabs the giant fiery ‘R’ and slings it down on top of Rico! He rips a mic from the podium and steps over the top rope before hopping down to the floor as the rest of the ring starts to catch fire. He casually strolls around the ring and up the ramp, back toward the entrance way. He pauses, looks down and smirks. We get a close up shot of a giant Raven with the slain dove in it’s talons.
Smith: That’s a Raven! A raven destroyed Rico’s dove! And, again, I repeat…we need help!! Rico is trapped in that ring and amid the flames!!
The masked figure looks into the camera and rips the purge mask off. Fans gasp.
Smith: IT’S MATT KNOX!
Knox slings the mask to the ground. He brings the mic to his mouth. The fans boo! He brings it back down. Pausing, he waits for the boos to die down before slowing bringing the mic back up. The boos increase. Knox's eyes watch the ring burn.
MATT KNOX: No…
He lowers the microphone after the one word, moving to leave but stopping himself. Knox’s face twists into a scowl, he turns and heads down the ramp. He reaches into the ring, amid the fire and snatches Rico by what remains of his hair, dragging the poor listless bastard out of the ring with one tug, then another. Knox drops to a knee, propping Rico against it and brushing some blood away from his seared face.
MATT KNOX: You, though. I’ll explain this to you because you were just a victim in this, Rico. Just the wrong motherfucker….but really, you’ll thank me. You won’t have to deal with any of the escaped mental patients they have running this place, or that snake Marcus Welsh.
He pauses, his breathing all that comes through the mic before he continues, tone dropping an octave.
MATT KNOX: And before i’m through….No one will have to, ever again…
And with that Knox drops the mic, hauling Rico up and placing him on his shoulders as the crowd jeers and pleads for him to not do it. Knox, however, only gives a sad half smile to the crowd and sends Rico Dominguez INTO THE VOID one more time. Rico’s lifeless body is laid out at ringside as Knox marches up the ramp. The fans chant “FUCK YOU, KNOX! FUCK YOU, KNOX!”
Smith: Where was security? THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS
Knox vanishes through the curtain.
Smith: Rico is badly, badly hurt. I really hope we didn’t just witness more casual murder.
Paramedics run down with a stretcher as doctors surround Rico, refusing to give the cameras a look at what’s become of this great man.
Smith: A coronation ruined. A celebration of unity and peace PURGED. Matt Knox has once again looked to insert himself somewhere he doesn’t belong. I hope he doesn’t get rewarded…
We cut away from Smith. An image shows.
We cut back to Smtih.
Smith: Mother fucking shit. We gotta end this fucking curse.
We fade out.
